There is a new map available, Nukes!

Currently only Strategist and Commanders can start games, but we will open it up at large next week.

Here is a preview but make sure you read the blog post too.

Post any thoughts, fixes, strategies, questions or some sweet praise here.

Huzzah!

The video (linked above) is quite helpful. The strategy is fairly straightforward: grab cheap bonuses as you can, dominate one side of the board, beat your opponent in the arms race.

I agree that it's a solid 2p map, but I like this map best as a two-team map. Once a doubles team holds one side, they need to be strategic about how they manage the bonuses in order to topple their opponent.

And if you're one of the intrepid ones that want to tackle this new map head-on, be sure to check out the first MajCom NUKES! tourney Eschaton.

Ok, can someone look at game 33355 and tell me what I'm doing wrong? I have 19 armies at the top of the missile, it won't let me attack up to the last space and fire.....

hey Cards, you need to read the Brief more carefully! :D

You don't get nukes by moving up the missile: you get nukes by holding the entire missile, the president, and the target acquisition site. Hold all of those items when your next turn starts and the Nukes are yours.

OK, I didn't see that he had neutralized my territories. my bad... Have to take care of that.

I DID read the brief, Shep. I actually played some games in dev, if you remember. I just didn't see that the sneaky boy had neutralized my target acquisition.....

EDIT: This little mishap slowed me down in nuking the US, but provided a nice strategy lesson for me.....

bwahahaha!

Man, I stuck that in there months ago - Widowmakers is asleep at the switch. I'll fix it.

So am I the first person to nuke someone?

I've won two games on the Nukes map using only conventional forces. Interesting how this map can shake out.

did the map get split into two? or did you maintain a presence in both countires?

I had good luck in one country and was able to kick them out much quicker than they were able to push me out. Then the typical 1v1 tipping point was met and I was deploying 7-8 while they were deploying 3-4. Then instead of going for the tactical nuke terts on my side, I just started pushing back in the other country.

Isn't it impossible to win conventionally without a presence in both? You can only bombard 3 or 4 Regions with the spies.

Possible bug, I wanted to see if anyone else has seen this issue.

For some reason I can't fort from my bunkers to my missile terits. I know we had a long convo about forting OUT of missile terits (and eventually decided not to have it), but this is the first I've seen of not being able to fort into them.

EDIT: and while I love the map's victory message, I think it's a bit long, as the tail end of the rank-specific bit was cut off in my last game.

interesting catch, Inc. I think I know why.

I already see a way to shorten the victory msg.

I liked the old one... lol
