With a ton of maps (kudos to the map makers btw, lots of good work there) it would be good to be able to see the maps close(r) up and the brief somehow, maybe by clicking on an icon that would open that page (or some combo-page) in a new tab.

Should be self-explanatory (and easy to program?) I think, a good way for anyone who hasn't played a map before to see what it is like before they join, which should help them to find maps they would like and avoid those that they wouldn't.

And if someone wanted to make a video playing the map (or at least a few turns of it, with basic instructions) and link that somewhere that might be good as well. Related, sending some emails to the RISK youtubers/streamers to invite them to check out the site seems like a good thing to do if it hasn't already been done.

Thanks, we had some of the all-time best here. Your kudos can go to @Shepherd @WidowMakers @RjBeals

Sure, a roll-over or popup might do the trick. I was thinking the same thing was needed. It'll take some thought.

We also have some of the best in that field too! @periwinkle is a godsend, and might be ready to have a career as an influencer to fallback on too, lol.

This is currently available. For any game you're considering joining, just click below the join button to open the game. You can see the map and read the brief. You can also check the ranks and scores of players that are already registered for the game if you care about those things

this is kind of related, but more about a quality of life improvement for the game interface once the game has started:

it is a bit hard to describe accurately for me, but particularly in large multiplayer games where turn order matters greatly it can become a bit annoying to follow what is likely going to happen while looking at the player names arranged horizontally at the top of the map. the longer / taller the map is, the more pronounced this becomes. north america is a good example. i guess this depends on personal screensize too, but for me it has never been possible to see both players names and the entire map at the same time without scrolling up and down or zooming out.
another player here once programmed a small tool for the old engine that allowed to see players turn order vertically. i simulated this in the screenshot with photoshop. you could freely move it to the side of the map, and particularly in large multiplayer games this was extremely helpful when trying to project possible developments. i know this sounds like a minor difference, but i think it is a combination of the vertical orientation and being able to always see it while studying the map that actually makes a major difference imo. it no longer works in the new engine unfortunately, but would be nice to have this option.

another thing i really really miss is the ability to see past turns, as this can really help in understanding players tactics.

and diplomacy of course.

Yup. Plan to start videos in the future. Got to retire first from my real job! Hopefully in 2 years! 🤞
